An chunk from a chat on politics by an Hasidic Jew in relation to how Hashem relates to politics – opinion piece –
I would hope the first part is true, though for the second part I realize that politics and policies have an impact on society, and I’ve been told as well that the Rebbe would encourage people to vote, especially in local elections.. so what I’ve seen and decided for myself at the moment is to go with what the community. I’m in holds and trying to support them with my “vote” that would be my “political stance”.
Though what I believe and try to do in my life is to try to do good and help where and who I can and Daven that HaShem, who in Truth is the only One who controls the outcome of everything, and yes he is so to speak relying and basing his decisions more or less, (and of course only so to speak and not in a way of matter of fact or that it has to be that way because HaShem is beyond any understanding) on our actions as Yidden.
As well is that I see that it takes up a lot mental and emotional space and weight that for the above reasons could be used for (IMHO) much better areas such as personal and communal growth. And to loosely quote the Rambam ” the Rambam (Maimonides) brings that there can be only one truly righteous rulership (government, or whatever you want to call it) and that’s the Kingdom of Moshiach with a King who is completely subservient to HaShem and therefore only judges according to the Torah and HaShem’s will. Because any other political structure or ruling run by man is bound to be flawed and influenced by man’s nature (which we all can see clearly) so for that reason I’m sure you could see which would be the more productive use of time and energy
TLDR;
The author is basically saying how his political stance reflects that of his community, how no system is perfect and how our time is better spend focusing on G-d.
