Why should the rich give back to the poor? After all, they worked so hard for their wealth and capital. They’ve innovated in ways that furthered society ahead of its time. Just take Apple, Walmart, or Amazon. They provide services that the consumer relies on for services and convenience. The consumer is you and me who use dollars to purchase products. Isn’t their service to us enough?
No! Monopolies accumulate wealth and hold it, instead of investing it back into the economy. That reinvestment would serve the monopolies the most because they’d have more productive workers. In turn, the workers can work better and harder for said monopoly. This is already a proven concept within the capitalist idea. For example, take unions and the rights they’ve provided when they work with monopolies. This idea also extends to Hershey towns and Henry Ford’s five-day work week.
Monopolies should care for the downtrodden, so the downtrodden can work for them. This cycle sets a standard of living that people cannot fall behind on. This idea of what the standard is… food, shelter, and security. The rich can provide that for the poor, so the capitalist system works better. This can already be seen with ideas like social democracy, which is a proven system. If the conditions are better, then the worker can work better.
The rich can pay for the consumers’ housing, healthcare, and education. These things all directly affect the monopoly’s productivity. Again, if workers have these things, they can work harder. For they won’t have as much stress. Capitalism is good and wonderful, but it only works if the workers can work properly.
